The Times: About day
and residential camps June
2003
XKeys
Number of camps: Two day camps in London, one residential
in Norfolk.
Age range: 3 – 12 on day camp, 7-17 on residential. Sample
price: One week day camp, £99. A good, safe camp with well
supervised children enjoying themselves. Children can do half
days, which is ideal for hteyougner ones. The youngest were
doing parachute games outside, crafts inside and another group
was entertained by someone dressed as “Mr Ticke”.
Older children were doing sports on the field
and a drama session performing a play they had written. In
the summer there is a choice of sports, drama, art or multi-activity
camp.
Clear safety policies and procedure; romms are
safety checked twice a day and signed off on sheets on the
walls. Security guard on the gate checks people in. Parents
cannot bring cars on site and children must be signed in and
out.
Day camp may bot be ideal for older children,
as it is not especially challenging, but the residential camp
offers quad bik8ing, archery, judo and clay pigeon shooting.
Best for: Under 12s.
