Cross Keys Day Camp: February Half Term

After much planning and organising for February half term, we cannot believe that Cross Keys day camp has finished and what a week it was! We welcomed new and old faces to Cross Keys for a busy, fun filled, action-packed week of arts, drama and sports – I think it would be fair to say that we officially wore the children out come Friday!!

For those that do not know, Cross Keys is a day camp that is situated in Finchley, North London, for children aged 4-13 years old. We offer 3 specialised academies for children aged 6-13; art, sport and drama academies. For children aged 4-5 we have a group called the Apprentices which enables children to participate in multi-activities.

Now you know what we offer at our day camp, do you want to find out what we got up to during February half term? Well here is an overview:

Apprentices:

Our apprentices have been busy all week with multi-activities! They went on a nature hunt, made ‘gooey monsters’, designed treasure maps, went on a treasure hunt, made puppets, completed an obstacle course and even made their own play dough! I bet you wouldn't believe us if we told you they had time to plan and rehearse a song for the Friday show! Well they did and it was excellent!!

Sport Group:

Our sport group were put under the test as they powered through a week of multi-sports and games. You name a sport, we played it! From hockey, to dodgeball, to rugby and of course not forgetting the children’s favourite, football! Jacob, Jo and Sarah (our sport team) have kept the sports group active all week, both inside the gym and outside, whilst even finding time to organise a staff vs kids football game!

Art Group:

Our art group have had a creativity inspired week celebrating the sea, culture, Chinese New Year and colour! They have been busy painting, drawing, weaving and sticking to name a few! They made their own elephant magnets, dragon masks, Chinese floating butterflies, dream catchers and the list goes on! Not only this, but our artists worked together all week to create their final “colourful celebrations” masterpiece that was displayed to all of our parents on Friday. It was a definite must see and a proud moment!

Drama Group:

We are always both shocked and ‘wowed’ by the talent and confidence of the children in our drama group. They can act, sing, dance and do all three at the same time! At Cross Keys day camp, our drama group worked hard towards performing a show on the Friday in front of parents, relatives and the rest of the Cross Keys day camp children! It is definitely a nerve-racking moment but our drama group delivered the performance as if they were professionals. This February half term our drama group performed a most fantastic show. After many drama workshops, auditions and rehearsals, the performance was outstanding and one of our best yet at Cross Keys day camp!
