Our day-trip to London included girls performing cartwheels in front of famous monuments and a trip to the hit West End musical Oliver!  We also had a bunch of our teens jumping behind the wheel of a car at our onsite driving lessons - don’t panic, we cleared the roads on camp for them first!!  The groups have also created some beautiful artwork  including salt dough models and masks, cooked some banana and choc chip muffins, been on Boot Camp and toasted mashmallows on the open fire and it was all rounded off with the show last night, which was the most elaborate yet!  It was Haunted House night and with Janey and Giles fronting the show, we had a scary line up of talent including dancing, singing, joke telling and hair epilating - poor Rob!!!  A big group graduated from our language school again, completing another week of classes mixing grammar in with letter writing and much much more!  And  who could forget, our citizen of the week, Erica Gould.  Congratulations Erica, you are a deserved winner and we are already looking forward to you coming back next year!

Tomorrow, the whole camp is off to visit the historical market town of Bury St Edmunds and then, on Thursday we’re off to London for some sightseeing and to see a West End show.  We’ll be back blogging on Friday with more pics for you to follow us as we enjoy the rest of our week at XUK!

The week went out in style with our very own XUK Oscars talent show with Mattias juggling and Jimena and Maria on the piano.  The fancy dress was brilliant with the Tin Man, Gladiator and the Pirates of the Caribbean all making an appearance and having a boogie at our Saturday night disco.  And we can’t forget our citizen of the week - well done Cesar!

So, as we wipe away the tears from our goodbyes with our week 1 campers, we’re on to week 2 in a flash with children arriving today, landing at airports, arriving on the Eurostar or being dropped off with their parents.  Everyone’s arrived safe and sound and welcomed into camp life with our XUK initiative games.

This week’s activities include scuba diving, a trip to London to do some sight seeing and see a West End show and go karting, to name just a few.   Watch this space for more XUK news!

Our children have had an opportunity to try quad biking, bake cupcakes and even have a go at some fencing which could prove a useful skill with tonights Wide Game involving pirates trying to capture XUK!  We’ve been to play laser quest and visited the university town of Cambridge as well and as if that’s not enough, we are now getting ready to go to the USA theme park tomorrow.

Our amazing staff team are as enthusiastic as ever and coming up with new activities and ideas to keep everyone entertained!

Oh, and we can’t forget the English language lessons - the international children at camp have learnt new vocabulary and did their own special treasure hunt around Cambridge today, we’re so excited to start seeing their progress in front of our very eyes.

So, get thinking about your outfits and props! We can’t wait to see them all!

In a months time from now our summer camp will be up and running. All the fun activities, sports, adventure, arts and Drama. Most of all we are looking forward to the friendly faces and social scene we enjoy every year!

The qualifications we look for are wideranging! We need teachers, managers, lifeguards, swim teachers, sports, art and Drama instructors, outward bound trained staff, nurses, coach drivers and Language teachers! That means there may well be a position in our camps that suit you!!
Our summer UK residential camp is help over 5 weeks from early July to mid August and needs a staff team that is dedicated and committed to the needs of our children day and night! The staff atmosphere here is fantastic but it is hard work!!!

Our day camps in Finchley and Hampstead Garden Suburb, London are held over half terms, Easter and Summer. These periods are run over a normal school day so where the work is intensive you do get to go home each day and taste your own cooking!!

If you’d like to work for us please look around our site and read more about us. Try to work out what you’d like to do and which camp would suit you best. It’ll help your application if you get the feel for a job you’d like to do before you start filling out the form.

We are looking for fun, energetic, experienced and dedicated people to work at our camps.

You need to make sure that you:
1. Really do want to work with children
2. Love working hard and in tightly-knit teams
3. Haven’t got any convictions related to children

We have two more interviews before the summer.

2) Sat 5th June 2010

The interviews are fairly relaxed. They are all done in a group situation and are a lot of fun.
