What your 3 – 13 year old child can do in the holidays

Friday, October 1st, 2010

You’ve done the hard bit. Your son or daughter is starting Nursery School. Let’s call her Charlotte. You’ve registered her and are pleased with your choice. You breathe a sigh of relief. And after a few weeks you become preoccupied with a second issue. What should she do during the holidays? (more…)

They think it’s all over….it is now!

Sunday, August 15th, 2010

We have only just stopped crying long enough to type a message to everyone to say our goodbyes to our online blog for this summer.  It was an amazing last night!  The show and disco were fantastic with plenty of dancing, singing and gunging of leaders!!

Thanks to everyone involved for a wonderful XUK 2010, including all our amazing campers, the stunning staff team, the lovely New Eccles Hall School staff, our brilliant instructors including fencing, taekwondo and archery and even our friendly Galloways coach drivers!  We will miss seeing everyone so much!   It’s only 364 days left until camp starts again, not that we’re counting!!

Almost “over and out”!

Friday, August 13th, 2010

We’ve just played the last song of our week 5 disco which as always is the Greenday hit, Time of our Lives!  It’s been a bit of a washout in terms of weather today but our campers have still had a fun filled day with cooking, drama, art and archery.  Well done to Lena Aie who won our Citizen of Week 5 – a lovely girl who we wish a safe trip back to France and hope to see her and her brother again soon!  Tomorrow is depart day…..we will need a mountain of Kleenex with all the tearful goodbyes expected!  Can’t we have camp all year round??!

Laser quest rocks!

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

We’ve had a fantastic time at the amazing laser quest centre near to camp today.  There is a paint ball range where the kids shot at targets.  Well done Vicktor Gotz who got an amazing score!  Our campers also took part in team building games where they had to get each person through a human sized spider web without touching the web!  Trickier than it sounds!  And across a minefield using planks and boxes!  That was all before a game of laser quest in the woods, hiding behind disused tanks and trees.  Amazing!

It’s here – our first ever week 5! Will it be the best week yet of XUK 2010?! We think so…..!

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

After a fond farewell to our week 4 campers after a week of such fun, we have now welcomed in our newcomers with open arms to our first ever fifth week of camp!  Everyone has arrived safe and sound at camp, some driving all the way from Belgium to be at XUK!

It’s our first ever fifth week of camp and we are so excited.  We’ve got a trip to laser combat to come, we are looking forward to returning to the USA theme park and we are off to Bury St Edmunds again shopping and sightseeing.  We’ve got teens camping out under canvas in our t-bell village up on the bbq field and more children studying english at our classes this week.

Hot off the press: we’ve just finalising our camp video for this year thanks to Antonio.  We’ll load it on to the website as soon as it’s ready so you can see just what XUK has to offer and you may see some familiar faces if you have been to camp before!
