SAFETY
Safety underpins everything we do. We're regulated by OFSTED
but do much more than just meet their statutory requirements.
We've created our own safety system and have implemented all of
the following:
We
have someone at the front gate throughout Mini Minors. This
person monitors who is coming in and out our site.
- We safety-check every room twice daily during every camp
- We risk-assess every activity that takes place in every group
- No child is allowed to leave camp without being signed out
by someone you have nominated on the application form (or told
us about after your initial booking)
- To help protect children with life-threatening allergies,
we have a no sharing food policy
- All our staff are under go suitability checks. We use the
Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), POCA and list 99 databases to
carry these out.
We'd understand completely if you'd like to call and chat about
specific safety issues at camp.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is the difference between Cross
Keys and Mini Minors?
Mini Minors is our general activity camp, whereas Cross Keys specialises
in certain activities. At Mini Minors the kids are split by age:
3-4, 5-7 and 8-13. Each age group do a large variety of activities.
Why send my child to a ‘general activity
camp’?
Some children like to do a mixture of different activities and
do not want to concentrate on one for a whole week. This way,
your child can taste many different aspects of a camp in the safety
and comfort of one site.
What are the times at Mini Minors?
9:00am 3:00pm and if you need the kids to stay longer they can
stay till 16:00 in our ‘lates session’ for a small additional
charge. You can send your child for a half day which ends at 12noon.
Can I book camp by the day?
No. If you want to come to camp you’re going to have to book a
full week of fun.
How many kids are there in a group?
It depends slightly from week to week but usually around 24 children
with three members of staff. We never have less than one adult
to eight kids at camp.
What
do kids eat at camp?
Kids who come to Cross Keys bring a morning snack and a packed
lunch with them. We also recommend they bring a water bottle.
We have a no sharing food policy which helps protect children
with allergies. We do not check lunches but respectfuly ask you
not to put nut products in packed lunches.
What is the difference between the fun
swims and swim lessons?
During summer, every child in the 5-7's and 8-13's will spend
2 activity sessions doing a fun swim. This is a chance to get
wet and have some fun taking part in organised games.
The swim lessons are for any age group (inc
3-4's) and these take place every day. In the lessons we try and
improve your childs confidence and ability with their swim strokes.
